Saturday Night

Wow, what another big day. Molly did great in surgery, her first "tubbing" which means they took her to the big bathtub to clean her up and scrub her legs and do a dressing change. With all this her blood pressure did drop a little as it was a big day and they gave her some pain medication. But it is starting to go back up. Add to the already big day another IV line (that makes a total of 5) for the to continue running the CVVH (continuous dialysis). Soon some of these lines will be coming out, but for now they want to keep all the access points. I was struck today at the number of pump machines at her bed side, she has 4 double pumps, while this sounds like a lot, when she got here to the U of M Hospital she had 14 double pumps running full steam, plus the oscillator, Nitrous Oxide, Dialysis, etc, etc, etc. To be down to only 4 pumps, a regular ventilator and the dialysis is amazing progress. I told her she is doing great and how proud I am of her, she just shakes her head and tries to smile. We had visitors today, Aunt Marty & Ashley and Michelle and Stacy. Not sure how much Molly knew was going on at the time as she had just returned from surgery, but she did respond a little and opened her eyes a little. If nothing else I knew they were all here and lifted my spirits. Tomorrow should be a resting day for Molly, the only thing on the schedule is for her to be "tubbed" again. but other than that she should get the opportunity to rest and regain some strength and let her body continue to heal itself. SPECIFIC PRAYER NEEDS (same as before)
  • Pray for strong, continued oxygenated blood flow to cell in her toes, feet and legs, fingers hands and arms.
  • Liver to continue to recover and grow stonger
  • Kidney function to return
  • Lungs to continue to clear and grow stonger
  • Mental health and spirit

While Molly grows stronger everyday and is showing us all how resiliant the human body actually is, we have to remember how fragile is can be also. If anything can be learned from all this is take control of your own health and demand a strep test even if your doctor or urgent care health professional says it is something else. While we do not know if Molly's journey could have been prevented by a throat swab, for a few dollars and a 10 minutes, it can be a good preventative action.

God Bless everyone for the continued prayer, comments, cards, calls, etc. They are all felt and appreciated. Speaking of comments, I have had a few calls from folks trying to leave comments but cannot. Here is a quick tutorial:

Click on the "comments" at the bottom of a posting. On the right hand side is a blank box to type your comment. To verify, type the funny looking letters/numbers in the box, then enter your google id and password OR click on anonymous. If you click anonymous and you want Molly and I to know who it is from, be sure to include your name in the comment.

God Bless you all!

Jamie we are so glad to hear Molly is doing better. I have prayed so much for all of you. We had a special prayer on Tuesday at Toastmasters. We all gathered in a circle held hands and prayed. I want to do so much more but I know it is all in God's hands. So for now I will pray and continue praying for all of you, the Doctors, Nurses and all that touch Molly. Please send our Love to Molly and your Mom & Dad. God Bless you Tom & Charlene

Dear Jamey - Molly was our daughter Alyssa's KG teacher at Nicklin in 2000 ~ you may have seen a picture of Alyssa and her favorite dog - Muri - that we send to Molly each year. I had the pleasure of helping Molly in the classroom, as well, and what a joy it was - she truly loved each child "warts and all". She is so special to so many people ~
You have been on my mind and heart since I found out about Molly - for the difficult decisions that you face day to day. But in my devotional today, it was about having an attitude of faith..."those who have an attitude of faith enter His rest and cease from the weariness and pain of human labors. The attitude of faith does not worry, fret or have anxiety concerning tomorrow, because faith understands that wherever it needs to go, even into the unknowns of the future, Jesus has already been there." Jamey - I pray that you continue with your attitude of faith and know that He goes before you and Molly - He will sustain you.
We continue to pray for each need that you list for Molly - but also for for the many "unknowns" at this time. Thank you so much for sharing yourself and Molly with us through the blog. Please tell Molly we love her, and know that we care deeply for you both and will hold you closely in our hearts, thoughts and our prayers in the days to come. May God Bless You and Carry You, ~ Theresa, Jay, and Alyssa McKinney (Muri too!) :)

Jamey-
I just met Molly this year as my son Ethan is in her class. I also work at the schools and had seen her previous years at South, but had never gotten to meet her. I have been very thankful that Ethan was lucky enough to have her for his teacher because she is so wonderful with him and all of the kids and he, of course, LOVES her! I have been able to occasionally volunteer in the classroom and it is obvious how much she loves each of the children, too!

Thank you, Jamey, for posting Molly's progress each day. I am touched every day by your love for Molly and faith in God. I pray throughout each day for the specific areas you mention!

Molly, Ethan misses you and prays every night for you to get better. He did ask me the other night if maybe you would teach second grade next year so that he could "keep you"!? I make sure to give him extra hugs and tell him they are from you - and Michelle does at school, too! Please just focus all of your attention and energy on getting better!

Love,
Krista (and Ethan) Coppess

Jamey,
I wanted you to know that yesterday was the most powerful felt 5 or 10 minutes of my life. When entering Molly's room I can truly say I felt or we felt like we were standing on HOLY GROUND and you could feel ANGEL'S all around. There was a warmth of prayers felt and lifted up for both you and Molly.
I was great getting to spend time with you and learning all that Molly is truly going through. Seeing her beautiful eyes open. What a blessing. Those who read this Just KNOW GOD is DOING A GREAT WORK.. KEEP THOSE PRAYERS COMING. If you don't have a true relationship with or LORD and SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.. NOW IS THE TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!! We never know what GOD has in STORE but I feel like this is opening the HEARTS of those reading this each and every day..
ALL MY LOVE ,

Molly and Jamey
At church today a friend asked how I knew you and she said her husband (Tony Royer's) cousin lived across the street from you in Greenville. The Lord makes all these connections that are truly amazing. Many people are feeling His grace and love through the prayers and hearing and reading so many wonderful messages on this blog. Our sermon this morning was about reaching people for Christ and I know many hearts are touched for Christ through this really hard time for you. I continue to lift you up each and every day to the Lord that His healing touch will be with you and most of all the peace that He has you in the palm of His hand. Love you lots,
Nancy DeNise

Molly and Jamey,

Molly, I knew from the very first time that I met you that you give straight from the heart! You know and express unconditional love daily. I truly believe that which you have given to our children and their families over the years, is coming back to you ten-fold. Feel the warmth of His healing love! It's just truly remarkable how our Lord's love grows and flourishes throughout the world in even the most difficult of times.

Stay strong, Jamey, and keep the faith.

Jamey,
Just a note to say "Hang in there". Molly has a special place in my heart, because you see last year she had my granddaughter Halle at South. I was so honor to go into her classroom and read to the students during the school year. Being in Central Office for the past two years and now out at Woodland, I can say that Molly is one outstanding teacher. Pat and I send our prayers along with Halle and her mother Leslie. Also Paster Peter Menke offers prayers every Sunday for Molly and you. He too sends his best to both of you. Tell Molly that I said hi and get back to school real soon. May God bless you and your family for all that you are doing to get Molly back on her feet. If you need anything just let me know. Marvin

Just wanted to let you know that our family is praying for you and Molly. I don't know if Molly ever mentioned my son Zac, he is not in her class but he tells me when he talks to Molly at school. Zac thinks the world of Molly and she sent me an e-mail earlier in the year about their conversations. The things that first graders say :):) Please give Molly my love and let her know your family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Molly, you are missed dearly. Please continue to keep your spirit strong... work your way to being whole and home again. Ohio property values have dropped since you left and Michigan just isn't a place for such a classy lady like yourself :)

Jamey, thanks so much for keeping us all close to Molly through this. My family is praying for your family and the specific items you post on the blog. The two of you are a wonderful testimony of faith during this time. God bless Molly to find that sunny disposition she is famous for after she has had time to sort through all of what is happening. I hope she had a restful day, and you are staying rested as best you can.
God's blessings to you.
-Kelly Tanner

I'm so happy to hear that Molly continues to make steady progress. I'm at school as usual which makes me think of Molly as we would always see each other here on Sundays. Please tell her I miss her smiling face here on Sundays; it's just not the same without her! Jamie, she is so lucky to have such a wonderful, caring, spiritual husband by her side. Thank you for the updates, as we will all continue to pray to God to give strength to you both!
